Port Isaac is a traditional fishing village with a vibrant local community in north Cornwall and is renowned as the home of the TV series Doc Martin.

A picturesque village with narrow winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages that head down to the small harbour and beach.

The small vibrant fishing village of Port Isaac is one of Cornwall’s most well known and popular holiday destinations. The picturesque fishing village lies on a stunning stretch of coastline, midway between Polzeath (and the Rumps headland to the west) and the ever popular village of Tintagel Much of the coastline and surrounding countryside of Port Isaac is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coastline.

Port Isaac, was a busy coastal port from the Middle Ages to the mid 19th. Century when it was an active harbour where cargoes like stone, coal, timber and pottery were loaded and unloaded.

Fishing and fish-processing were also important and today there are still fishermen working from here although tourism plays an increasingly important role.

Obviously we must also mention Doc Martin, the television comedy drama starring Martin Clunes as a doctor whose tactless manner causes mayhem in the small Cornish community of Port Wenn. Created by Dominic Minghella, the series was filmed on location in Port Isaac, North Cornwall, with filming of most interior scenes and production carried out in a converted barn at a local farm.
